Nigeria: NCC Strengthens Type Approval Compliance for SIM-Enabled Devices

September 28, 2026 Phase One of the NCC’s Device Management System focuses on onboarding devices already in stock, registering new imports, and catching non-compliant or illegally imported devices before they reach the market. Importers and OEMs should expect closer coordination between the NCC and the Nigeria Customs Service, since unregistered devices will not be allowed on Nigerian networks. Australia: Amendment Published for AS/CA S042.1:2025 Air Interface Connection Requirements

September 25, 2026 Amendment No. 1/2026 to AS/CA S042.1:2025 was published on 26 June 2026, together with a consolidated version of the standard. AS/CA S042.1:2025 applies to addressable customer equipment used with public mobile telecommunications services or satellite services, and ACMA sets its mandatory status. Brazil: Anatel Moves Certification and Homologation Procedures to the Certifica System

September 24, 2026 Since September 8, 2026, new certification and homologation requests go through Certifica instead of the legacy SCH system, while the certification rules stay the same. The platform currently handles certification through Designated Certification Bodies and Declarations of Conformity, and products for proprietary use remain in SEI for now. Honduras: CONATEL Updates National Frequency Allocation Plan for Private IMT, WAS/RLAN and Satellite Services

September 22, 2026 CONATEL Resolution NR 003/26 opens 2500 to 2690 MHz to private IMT networks, adds a Mobile Satellite Service allocation in the S band, and extends WAS/RLAN general licensing up to 7125 MHz. It also lets CONATEL authorize NGSO satellite systems in the 10.7 to 20.2 GHz range, provided operators file a sworn statement of conformity. Dominican Republic: INDOTEL Establishes Operating Parameters for Low Power and ICM Devices in the 915 to 928 MHz Band

September 22, 2026 INDOTEL Resolution No. 074-2026 sets power limits for the 915 to 928 MHz band under a generic license: 100 mW EIRP for general devices, 1 W for FHSS and digital modulation systems, and up to 4 W for industrial and commercial RFID in 920 to 926 MHz. Equipment has no protection from interference, and INDOTEL will monitor the 915 MHz edge. Lebanon: TRA Clarifies Type Approval Procedure for Telecom-Enabled Equipment

September 20, 2026 The TRA confirmed that Type Approval applications and certificates are issued in the manufacturer’s name and cover a specific model. Every importer of that identical model can rely on the same certificate, whether the equipment arrives as a standalone device, embedded in another product, or as a spare part. South Africa: ICASA Clarifies Position on End-User and Subscriber Service Charter Amendment Regulations

September 16, 2026 ICASA’s August 14, 2026 statement clarified its position on the EUSSC Amendment Regulations and withdrew its earlier use of the term “collusion” about licensed operators. The amendments, which include data rollover and transfer provisions, were published on January 23, 2026 and take effect on January 23, 2027. India: BIS Issues FAQs on Migration to IS/IEC 62368-1:2023

September 16, 2026 The BIS FAQs explain how existing CRS licences move to IS/IEC 62368-1:2023, which replaces IS 13252 (Part 1):2010 and IS 616:2017. Registration numbers stay the same and migration is free, but full test reports are needed for lead models, and no new licences will be granted under the old standards after November 1, 2028. India: Security Certification Exemption for Cloud IP Routers and Wi-Fi CPEs Extended to December 2026

September 13, 2026 NCCS has pushed the security certification exemption for cloud-implemented IP routers and Wi-Fi CPEs from August 31 to December 31, 2026. It is the latest extension of an exemption first granted in July 2025, giving OEMs, importers and test labs more time to prepare. South Korea: USB Type-C Connector Mandated for Mobile and Smart Devices

September 12, 2026 MSIT Notice No. 2025-56 requires 13 categories of wired-charging devices, including phones, tablets, laptops, headphones and handheld game consoles, to use a USB Type-C receptacle from November 6, 2026. Brazil: Clarifies 6 GHz Renewal and Testing Rules

September 8, 2026 ANATEL set out three scenarios that decide whether a certificate renewal must reduce the 6 GHz band to 5925 to 6425 MHz, based on the certificate’s expiry date and when the renewal is filed relative to March 1, 2027. Singapore: New eSIM Compliance Framework Released

September 4, 2026 IMDA’s three new technical specifications cover eUICC requirements for consumer devices, M2M and IoT equipment, and the servers that manage eSIM profiles. Consumer devices need PTCRB or GCF certification and GSMA SGP.21 and SGP.22 compliance, and cannot be permanently locked to a single eSIM profile. Mexico: Energy Efficiency and Safety Requirements for Commercial Refrigeration Equipment

September 2, 2026 A new NOM from SENER and the Ministry of Economy sets energy consumption limits and safety requirements for commercial coolers, freezers, display cases and ice storage units, including a 150 gram cap on A3 flammable refrigerants. Australia: ACCC Issues Updated Mandatory Reporting Guidelines for Product Safety

September 2, 2026 The ACCC’s July 2026 guidelines explain when suppliers must report a death, serious injury or serious illness linked to a consumer product, and confirm a two business day reporting deadline. The obligation extends to overseas suppliers selling into Australia, and non-compliance carries criminal and civil penalties. Brazil: CONAMA Resolution 516 Restricts Hazardous Substances in Electronics

September 1, 2026 CONAMA Resolution No. 516 restricts ten substances, including lead, mercury, cadmium and four phthalates, across a wide range of electrical and electronic equipment. Deadlines run from immediate for PBB and PBDE to four years for phthalates, and a national registry with self-declaration of conformity is on the way.
