The Australian Telecommunications Alliance has published Amendment No. 1/2026 to AS/CA S042.1:2025, Requirements for connection to an air interface of a Telecommunications Network, Part 1: General. The standard was first published on 30 June 2025 and replaced AS/CA S042.1:2022. The amendment was published on 26 June 2026. The standard sets general requirements for customer equipment used with public mobile telecommunications services and satellite services.
Scope of the Standard
AS/CA S042.1:2025 sets out general requirements for Customer Equipment (CE) that is designed or intended to connect to:
- A public mobile telecommunications service (PMTS), where the equipment is an addressable device
- A Satellite Service, where the equipment is an addressable device
- Both of the above
Amendment No. 1/2026
Amendment No. 1/2026 was published on 26 June 2026. The Australian Telecommunications Alliance has released four documents: the original standard, the amendment, a consolidated version that includes the amendment, and an Expression of Intent document.

The mandatory status of AS/CA S042.1:2025 is set by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) and is listed on the Telecommunications standards page of the ACMA website.
