The framework followed a three-stage study benchmarking 68 institutions across four continents and a sectoral diagnostic of 87 Brazilian market entities, leading Anatel to adopt requirements calibrated to company size. While participation remains voluntary for now, the plan phases in sustainability criteria over 12 months to five years, eventually extending to spectrum auction and authorization tenders. India: Exempts Automotive Radar From Licensing

June 20, 2026 India’s Department of Telecommunications notified new rules exempting 77-81 GHz short-range automotive radar systems from frequency licensing under the Indian Telegraph Act and Wireless Telegraphy Act. The rules set technical limits, including a maximum average EIRP of 50 dBm and peak EIRP of 55 dBm, and require equipment type approval through a DoT portal, though prior approvals for identical equipment can be reused. A built-in interference mechanism protects licensed spectrum users, requiring radar operators to relocate, reduce power, or change antennas if directed. Saudi Arabia: Mandates Supplier Details on Product Labels

June 20, 2026 SASO Circular No. 247 directs all accredited conformity assessment bodies to verify that product labels display the supplier’s name and commercial registration number before issuing a Certificate of Conformity. The requirement applies to 10 technical regulations covering products from LPG tankers to solar photovoltaic systems and electrical lifts, and takes effect October 1, 2026. SASO will use random sampling and file reviews through its SABER platform to confirm compliance, with penalties applying directly to conformity assessment bodies that fail to verify the requirement. Indonesia: Overhauls Radio Frequency Spectrum Allocation Table

Nigeria: Maps Out Spectrum Strategy Through 2030

China: Unifies Testing Lab Accreditation Under One Database

SAMR’s new “One List, One Database” system, effective June 1, 2026, ties China’s CMA lab accreditation to a single national list of 11 statutory testing fields and a database of more than 45,000 standards. Existing accreditations for capabilities outside that database will not be renewed, so companies relying on Chinese lab reports for certification or procurement should confirm that both the lab and the specific test method remain within the newly defined accredited scope.

Singapore: Proposes International Standard for GenAI Testing
