Anritsu EMEA GmbH has equipped CERT (Centre d’Étude et de Recherche de Télécommunications), Tunisia’s national telecom testing authority, with a comprehensive multi-technology wireless test infrastructure, announced from Vienna, Austria, on May 5, 2026. Delivered in partnership with Prisma International, Anritsu’s authorized partner in Tunisia, the deployment equips CERT’s conformity testing laboratory with platforms spanning 2G through 5G NR, cellular, IoT, and WLAN technologies. The upgrade strengthens CERT’s ability to validate wireless devices before they reach the Tunisian market. CERT also holds ITU-authorized status as a regional reference laboratory for Africa, extending the significance of this deployment beyond Tunisia’s borders.
Anritsu Equips CERT with Multi-Technology Wireless Test Infrastructure
The deployment centers on three core pieces of test equipment: the Anritsu MT8000A Radio Communication Test Station, used for 5G NSA and SA testing in FR1; the Anritsu MT8862A Wireless Connectivity Test Set, covering WLAN technologies from 802.11a/b/g through Wi-Fi 7 and 802.11be; and the Anritsu MT8821C Radio Communication Analyzer, used for multi-technology cellular validation. Together, this equipment gives CERT’s conformity testing laboratory the ability to assess devices across a broad span of wireless technologies within a single facility.
Cellular, IoT, and WLAN Technology Coverage for Device Certification
The new infrastructure supports testing across cellular standards including GSM, GPRS, and EDGE, WCDMA and HSPA, and LTE FDD and TDD, as well as 5G NR FR1 in both standalone and non-standalone modes. IoT protocols covered include LTE-M, also known as CAT-M, and NB-IoT. On the WLAN side, the platform supports 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be, including Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7, with Wi-Fi connectivity testing carried out in line with applicable EN requirements. This breadth allows CERT to certify devices spanning legacy cellular technology through to the latest 5G and Wi-Fi 7 capable products within one conformity testing program.
CERT's Role as a Regional Reference Laboratory for Africa
Beyond its national mandate to validate wireless products before commercial market approval in Tunisia, CERT holds ITU-authorized status as a regional reference laboratory for Africa. In this capacity, CERT supports other regulators across the continent through type-approval training, advisory work, and the promotion of testing best practices. Marco Bordin, Sales Director, Southern Region at Anritsu EMEA, noted that the deployment gives CERT the tools to validate devices across the full spectrum of technologies in use today and those that will define connectivity going forward, while reinforcing CERT’s role as a reference point for telecommunications certification across Africa.
Impact on National Device Certification and Market Approval in Tunisia
For manufacturers and importers seeking market approval in Tunisia, this upgrade means CERT’s conformity testing laboratory is now equipped to evaluate a significantly wider range of wireless products under one roof, from older cellular technologies to current 5G NR and Wi-Fi 7 devices. The investment also signals continued growth in CERT’s capacity to support regulatory institutions across the Middle East and Africa region, an area Anritsu has stated it intends to keep expanding its presence in.
