The framework, introduced under Resolution 57/2026, overhauls how telecom equipment is registered and certified in Argentina, including new certification agencies, product family approvals, and indefinite registration validity. What Resolution 843/2026 Changes
Resolution 843/2026, published in the Boletín Oficial on August 28, 2026, amends the implementation timeline set out in Resolution 57/2026. Under the original schedule, the new RAMATEL (Registro de Actividades y Materiales de Telecomunicaciones) rules were set to take effect on September 1, 2026. The amendment pushes that date back to December 1, 2026, giving ENACOM additional lead time to finalize the systems and procedures needed to support the new framework.
Why ENACOM Delayed the RAMATEL Rollout
According to the resolution, ENACOM’s National Directorate of Radio Spectrum Engineering determined that the conditions needed for a proper rollout were not yet in place within the original timeframe. The agency stated that pending tasks needed to be completed to ensure an orderly and efficient implementation of the new homologation procedures. Rather than launch the framework before the supporting infrastructure was ready, ENACOM opted to extend the transition window by three months.
What Argentina's Major Telecom Homologation Update Implements
The delay applies only to timing. The substance of Resolution 57/2026 remains unchanged and will still take effect once the new December 1, 2026 date arrives, replacing Argentina’s decades old telecommunications equipment framework with a modernized RAMATEL registration system built around four core changes:
- Third party certification agencies: Accredited agencies, rather than ENACOM alone, can issue Certificates of Conformity for telecom equipment, provided they hold accreditation from the Argentine Accreditation Body.
- Product family registration: Manufacturers can group multiple equipment models with similar technical characteristics under a single homologation instead of certifying each variant individually.
- Indefinite registration validity: New registrations carry no expiration date, eliminating the periodic renewal cycles required under the current 36 month validity model, though consumer products remain subject to ongoing market surveillance.
- E-commerce labeling requirements: Online platforms must display RAMATEL registration numbers directly in product listings, extending compliance visibility into retail sales channels.

What Stays in Place Until December 2026
Until the new effective date, telecom equipment registrations in Argentina continue to operate under the previous regulatory framework, Resolution 729/80. Existing registrations made under that framework remain valid, and equipment manufacturers can continue to rely on current procedures through December 1, 2026. The derogation of legacy telecommunications regulations dating back to 1978, originally scheduled alongside the September rollout, has also been delayed to align with the new December timeline.
