Uztelecom, Uzbekistan’s state-owned telecom operator, has officially launched its non-standalone (NSA) 5G network across all regional centers of the country. This move marks a significant milestone in Uzbekistan’s digital transformation, as the telco also announced its intention to introduce 5.5G technology in the near future.
Modernizing the Network with The "Season of Renewal" Project
Since March 2022, Uztelecom has been focused on modernizing its mobile infrastructure under the “Season of Renewal” project. As part of this initiative, the company has updated and deployed over 3,500 base stations. In April 2023, a 5G trial was successfully launched in the capital city of Tashkent, using more than 60 newly installed 5G base stations.
At the upcoming ICTWeek exhibition in Tashkent, Uztelecom plans to unveil its next step—5.5G technology. This upgrade promises to significantly boost network speed and performance. During a demonstration, the Minister of Digital Technologies, Sherzod Shermatov, showcased the remarkable capabilities of the new standard, achieving network speeds of over 4942 Gbps. The introduction of 5.5G is expected to further enhance connectivity for all Uztelecom customers.
