Radio Frequency Allotment Plans
Serbia has adopted two new rulebooks to update its allotment plans for radio frequencies, focusing on mobile and fixed communications networks (MFCN):
- 880–915/925–960 MHz Bands: A new allotment plan for these frequency bands has been introduced to support public electronic communication services. This replaces the previous allotment plan for GSM/DCS 1800 systems, which is now outdated.
- 1710–1785/1805–1880 MHz Bands: Another allotment plan has been established for this range, again for MFCN services. This new rule supersedes the older plan from 2014.
Universal Service Obligation
A new rulebook detailing the obligations for universal service providers will come into effect on January 1, 2025. This regulation stipulates how universal service obligations are determined and requires service providers to make comprehensive data about their services publicly available. This includes details on geographic availability, pricing, access, and the quality of services provided. The aim is to ensure that essential communication services are accessible and transparent, reinforcing Serbia’s national goals for improving connectivity across the country.
