The Communications, Space, and Technology Commission (CST) in Saudi Arabia has initiated a public consultation aimed at gathering insights on the “Spectrum Outlook for Commercial and Innovative Use 2024-2027.” This document focuses on spectrum allocation and management updates to accommodate future technology demands in the Kingdom. The consultation is a key opportunity for stakeholders to shape the future of wireless communication and related technologies in Saudi Arabia.
Licensed-Exempt Bands Under Consideration
In addition to licensed spectrum bands, CST is considering the release of licensed-exempt bands to foster the growth of innovative technologies. These include:
- Short-Range Devices (SRD)
- Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN)
- Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWAN)
- Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X)
- Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (DECT)
- Future Railway Mobile Communication System (FRMCS)
Public Feedback and Consultation Process
Stakeholders are invited to submit their comments on the Spectrum Outlook and related updates to the National Frequency Plan. The consultation, which began on September 7, 2024, will remain open until October 7, 2024. This input will be pivotal in shaping the future of spectrum management in Saudi Arabia.
