Radio Type Approval

What is Radio Type Approval?

Radio type approval is the process of testing and certifying products emitting radio frequencies such as wireless communication devices, mobile phones, and broadcast equipment to comply with country regulations.

Mandatory in most countries to ensure the safety and compliance of wireless devices, radio type approval includes requirements such as local frequency spectrum regulations, emissions, interference, and safety standards.

What documentation is needed for radio type approvals?

While most countries base their regulations on FCC or CE Standards, each country has their own certification requirement. Manufacturers can expect to provide full CE or FCC technical file documentation including Radio, EMC, and Safety test reports, block diagrams, user manuals, internal and external photographs to support applications.

In some cases, CE or FCC test reports are not accepted and in-country testing is necessary. Global Validity’s Access Manager platform provides a clear view of the documentation required in each country, allowing our GMA experts to deliver exactly what’s needed and keep your certification process moving forward.
