Panama: ASEP Promotes 5G Network Deployment

The National Authority for Public Services (ASEP) in Panama is spearheading initiatives to advance the deployment of 5G networks across the country. In partnership with operators like Más Móvil Panamá and TIGO, ASEP is introducing strategic regulations and pilot programs designed to streamline the implementation of 5G technology, which promises faster connectivity and improved digital transformation.

Regulatory Framework and Spectrum Allocation

ASEP has initiated pilot tests and amended technical regulations to facilitate the 5G rollout. Key spectrum bands, such as the 2.5 GHz and 3.5 GHz bands, have been harmonized for better 5G compatibility, enabling current and future operators to introduce 5G services more effectively.

As 5G service begins to roll out, ASEP anticipates a gradual introduction, targeted at customers with compatible devices in specific regions. ASEP emphasizes the importance of raising consumer awareness to ensure they understand the benefits of this new technology.
