Purpose of the Technical Provision

The primary goal of Technical Provision IFT-016-2024 is to define the technical specifications and test methods required to verify compliance for low-power radiocommunication devices. These devices can use various frequency bands within the 30 MHz to 3 GHz range. As the market for these devices continues to grow, particularly with the rise of IoT and increased connectivity across digital platforms, the regulation aims to ensure that these devices operate safely and without interference.

Field of Application

This technical provision applies to a wide range of low-power radiocommunication devices, including but not limited to:

  • Wireless microphones
  • Hearing assistance devices
  • Wireless alarms
  • General digital radio broadcasting products (DRBP)

This Technical Provision is applicable to all those devices, equipment or low power radiocommunications products that may use radio spectrum frequency bands within the range of 30 MHz to 3 GHz, specifically the frequency bands of: 30-40.02, 40.02-40.98, 40.98-50, 54-72, 72-73, 76-88, 74.6-74.8, 75.2-75.4, 74-76, 88-108, 143.6-144, 144-148, 148-149.9, 149.9-150.05, 156.7625-156.7875, 156.8125-156.8375, 161.9375-161.9625, 161.9875-162.0125, 174-216, 216-220, 220-225, 312-322, 399.9-400.15, 406.1-430, 430-440, 470-608, 614-698, 698-806, 806-902, 902-928, 928-960, 1427-1518, 1710-1780, 1780-1850, 1850-1920, 1880-1900, 1920-1930, 1930-2000, 2000-2025, 2110-2200, 2290-2300, 2300-2400, 2400-2483.5, 2483.5-2500 and 2500-2690 MHz

However, this provision excludes the following:

  • Frequency bands designated for distress, safety, or search-and-rescue communications.
  • Protected spectrum bands as per the National Frequency Allocation Table.

Key Specifications and Compliance

The Technical Provision IFT-016-2024 outlines the following key technical specifications:

  • Occupied bandwidth
  • Frequency tolerance
  • Unwanted emissions
  • Specific operation frequency bands

It also includes test methods to ensure devices meet the required specifications, focusing on compliance with international standards. The goal is to ensure that low-power radiocommunication devices do not cause harmful interference and operate within the established parameters for safe and effective communication.

Implementation Timeline

This technical provision will come into effect 270 days after its publication in the Official Gazette of the Federation. Manufacturers and service providers will need to comply with these standards by the set date to ensure that their devices meet the regulatory requirements.
