The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has officially authorized the certification of three specific International Mobile Telecommunications (IMT) bands, each with clearly defined usage conditions and technical compliance requirements. This marks a focused effort to regulate spectrum access for private networks and railway communication services.

Authorized IMT Bands and Usage Conditions

The following IMT frequency bands have been approved for certification:

  • IMT Band 79 (5G N79): 4700–4800 MHz

  • IMT Band 31 (LTE B31): 452.5–457.5 MHz and 462.5–467.5 MHz

  • IMT Band 39 (LTE B39): 1900–1915 MHz

Bands N79 and B31 are exclusively allocated for designated Apparatus Assignment (AA) licensees to operate private network services. Band B39, on the other hand, is reserved for wireless telecommunications in railway radiocommunications. This includes high-speed data and mission-critical applications such as voice, video, and group communications.

Certification and Compliance Requirements

Each band must comply with specific technical regulations and standards issued by MCMC:

  • Band 79 (5G N79): Requires full compliance with SRSP MS 4700 and Technical Code MCMC MTSFB TC T016:2021.

  • Band 31 (LTE B31): Must meet the requirements outlined in SRSP MS 450 and Technical Code MCMC MTSFB TC T015:2022.

  • Band 39 (LTE B39): Certification requires compliance with SRSP MS 1900 and Technical Code MCMC MTSFB TC T015:2022.

Additionally, applications for Band 39 must include a declaration letter confirming that the equipment will be used solely for railway radio communication purposes.

Other Regulatory Considerations

Import permits, labeling requirements, and other certification processes remain unchanged and must follow MCMC’s existing procedures. This ensures a consistent framework for all equipment seeking approval under Malaysia’s communications regulatory regime.
