Macau: 3G Licenses Expiring in June 2025

The Macao SAR Government has announced that the 3G licenses for four mobile telecommunications service providers will expire on June 4, 2025. This means the 3G network and services in Macau will be discontinued upon the expiration of these licenses.

Transition to 4G and 5G Services

As the deadline approaches, the Government has urged mobile operators to ensure a smooth transition from 3G to newer technologies. Operators must adequately prepare for the cessation of 3G services, which will impact both consumers and businesses relying on the network.

The Postal and Telecommunications Services Bureau (CTT) has called on users of 3G services to reach out to their respective providers as soon as possible to explore options for transitioning to 4G or 5G services. CTT encourages users to consider the service that best fits their needs and ensure their devices support the newer technologies.
