The Advantages of Wi-Fi 6 Wi-Fi 7

Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid highlighted the importance of integrating Wi Fi 6E and Wi Fi 7 to bring Indonesia in line with tech standards and strengthen digital infrastructure as a key national focus area. This effort also marks a milestone achieved within the initial 100 days of President Prabowo Subiants term in office.

Advantages of Wi-Ïi 6 and 7 include velocities now reaching high as 46 gigabits per second which help improve response time for applications that require processing. Cutting edge technologies such as HD video support and advancements in cloud computing are paving the way for exciting developments, in virtual reality (VR) augmented reality (AR) and automation driven by artificial intelligence.

Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7 Regulation Frameworks

In order to facilitate this implementation plan, in Indonesia. The government has put forward two regulations;

  • Decree 1: Regulation of the Minister of Communication and Digital Number 2 of 2025 concerning Amendments to the Regulation of the Minister of Communication and Informatics Number 2 of 2023 concerning the Use of Radio Frequency Spectrum Based on Class Permits
  • Decree 2: Decree of the Minister of Communication and Digital Number 12 of 2025 concerning Radio Frequency Spectrum Based on Class Permits and Technical Standards for Telecommunication Equipment and/or Telecommunication Devices for Radio Local Area Networks

Exploring Device Testing and Partnerships

To guarantee compatibility with devices, in the 6 GHz band rigorous testing standards have been established. These tests can be carried out at Indonesia Digital Testing Agency (IDTA) or Telecommunications Device Testing Center, known as BBPPT.

Furthermore, devices that have been tested at laboratories internationally or in countries that have a Mutual Recognition Arrangement (or MRA) with Indonesia do not need to undergo testing again locally.
