As the holiday season for countries around the world approaches, it’s imperative for companies to understand how these holidays can impact certification timelines. We’ve got your back to help stay up to date on a few top country’s holidays and how they might impact your certification process.
Argentina
- The lab is still open with reduced personnel, so lead time will be affected from mid-December to March approx.
- National Holidays are December 25th, January 1st, February 12th & 13th, March 28th & 29th.
Brazil
- ANATEL reviewing time might be longer during this period due to holidays and summer vacations.
- Below are all Brazilian holidays for next year. Remember some holidays (example: Carnival) might increase the lead-time to conclude your certification as most laboratories and OCDs usually don’t work during these holidays.
- Please note: December and January are Brazil’s summer and many people prefer to take vacation during these months, including ANATEL and OCD employees, so we may expect some delay in the homologation processes during the beginning of next year.
China
- The Chinese labs and CB’s will be closed from February 10 to February 17 on Year 2024 for Chinese New Year.
Mexico
- Except for Christmas (12/25/23) and New Year day (1/1/24), which are the only official public holidays in Mexico, CBs and test labs remain open during the holidays, however many employees ask for time off, so lead tiem may be affected.
- IFETEL will be closed between 12/21/23 and 1/8/24.
Burkina (ARCEP)
- The agency will be closed the following days:
- 11/12/2023 : Bastille Day (Public holiday)
- 25/12/2023 : Christmas (Public holiday)
- 01 – 03/01/2023
Chad (ARCEP)
- The agency will be closed the following days:
- 01/12/2023 : Freedom Day
- 25/12/2023 : Christmas
Senegal (ARTP)
- The agency will be closed the following days
- 25/12/2023
- 01/01/2024
Guinee Konakry (ARPT)
- The Agency will be open every day except public holidays.
Mali (AMRTP)
- The agency will be closed the following days:
- 24/12/2023 to 25/12/2023 : Christmas
- 31/12/2023 : Closed
Botswana (BOCRA)
- The agency has not issued a Memo regarding the closing for the christmas holidays and opening for the New Year Holidays
Kenya (CAK)
- The agency will be closed the following days:
- 12/12/2023
- 12/25/2023
- 12/26/2023
- 1/1/2024
- Please note CAK is a public office and does not close except on the specific days that are officially holidays as per the calendar.
South Africa (ICASA, SABS, NRCS)
- The agency will be closed the following days:
- 2023-12-22 and reopens 2024-01-02 NRCS (Waiting for formal notice)
- 18/12/2023 to 12/01/2024 (SABS)
- Waiting for formal notice (ICASA)
Cape verde (ARME)
- ARME will not go for Annual leave.
- During the Christmas and New Year period we only close in the holidays.
Egypt (NTRA)
- Normal working Sunday through Thursday (8am:3pm)
Lesotho (LCA)
- The agency will be closed the following days:
- 15/12/2023 to 12/01/2023
Ethiopia (ECA)
- As per feedback received, the authority agency regulation will not be closed for Christmas or New year holiday.
- Please note Ethiopia operates with a different calendar from the traditional global calendar and their New Year was in the month of September.
Equatorial Guinea (ORTEL)
- The agency will be closed the following days:
- 24/12/2023
- 25/12/2023
- 31/12/2023
- 01/01/2024
- 06/01/2024
Seychelles (DICT)
- The agency will be closed the following days:
- 25/12/2023
- 01/01/2024 – 03/01/2024
Algeria (ARPCE)
- The agency will be closed for the following days:
- 01/01/2024
Tunisia (CERT)
- The agency will be closed for the following days:
- 01/01/2024
Ghana (NCA)
- The NCA will not be off any holidays
South Africa (ICASA)
- All ICASA offices will be partially closed from 18 December 2023 to 01 January 2024.
- During the partial closure, a select number of essential business operations will remain available. Key personnels will be present to ensure the continuity of critical services.
