China’s National Certification and Accreditation Administration (CNCA) has issued an official notice detailing the updated implementation requirements for fire emergency lighting and evacuation indication products. The move comes in preparation for the enforcement of the revised national standard GB 17945-2024, which will take effect on May 1, 2025.

Changes to Certification Scope
One key change involves the removal of the “Emergency Lighting Distribution Device” category from the list of products requiring compulsory certification. This adjustment updates both the 2023 revision of the Compulsory Product Certification Catalog and the implementation rules for escape products (CNCA-C18-03:2024).
Certification Bodies to Apply New Standard
All designated certification bodies are expected to carry out product certification activities for fire emergency lighting and evacuation systems based on the updated GB 17945-2024 standard. The procedures must align with the requirements outlined in CNCA’s earlier Announcement No. 4 (2012), which governs the revision of certification standards.
The updated certification framework ensures a more streamlined and standardized approach to verifying the safety and performance of emergency lighting and evacuation products in line with the latest national safety protocols.
