China: New Standards Issued for Domestically Produced Testing Instruments

Home / Country Update / China: New Standards Issued for Domestically Produced Testing Instruments

On November 10, 2025, the Certification and Accreditation Administration of the People’s Republic of China (CNCA) released Announcement No. 26 of 2025, introducing seven new industry standards. These standards are part of China’s broader efforts to formalize the validation and evaluation process for domestically produced testing instruments and equipment.

All seven standards will go into effect on December 1, 2025, and aim to improve consistency and technical accuracy across laboratory and testing environments in China.

Oversight and Responsible Bodies

The development and formulation of the standards were led by two main regulatory entities:

  • China Academy of Quality Inspection and Testing – responsible for five of the seven standards, particularly those related to chromatography and spectrophotometry.

  • China Automotive Engineering Research Institute Co., Ltd. – in charge of standards concerning automotive testing instruments, including road simulators and flexible traffic target systems.

These institutions are designated to oversee compliance, provide guidance on implementation, and maintain standardization integrity.
