China: New Certification Approval for Batteries and Power Supplies

Certification for Lithium-Ion Batteries, Battery Packs, and Power Supplies in accordance with Chinese CCC standards.

As of August 1, 2023, the State Administration for Market Regulation, through Announcement No. 10 of 2023, approved compulsory CCC certification for lithium-ion batteries, battery packs, mobile power supplies, and telecommunication terminal adapters. Post the TC03 expert group’s consensus, critical components for batteries (0915) were established, encompassing non-lithium-ion parts within power supplies (0807, 0907) and mobile power (0914), aligning with safety standards outlined in the TC03 expert group’s “Resolution on the Adjustment of Safety-Critical Components and Materials” from September 23, 2022.

Effective March 16, 2023, the certification body began accepting CCC applications for new products, enforcing standards detailed in the “Implementation Rules for Compulsory Product Certification Information Technology Equipment.” After August 1, 2024, non-CCC certified products will be restricted from shipment, sale, importation, or use in business activities.
