Brazil: ANATEL Launches New Telecommunications Data Collection Panel

Home / Country Update / Brazil: ANATEL Launches New Telecommunications Data Collection Panel

In an effort to improve transparency and management of telecommunications data, Brazil’s National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) has launched an external panel dedicated to sector data collections. This new tool gives the public greater visibility into the status of data submissions from telecommunications providers, aiming to streamline the process and ensure data quality.

Key Features of the New Panel

The external panel displays a comprehensive overview of the 24 ongoing data collection processes currently carried out by Anatel with telecommunications entities. It tracks essential metrics such as:

  • Open schedules for data submission
  • Success or failure of file submissions
  • Errors in layout or data quality in received files

Launched in June 2022, Anatel’s Data Collection System has become the go-to platform for receiving sector data. As of April 15, 2025, it has processed approximately 528,000 files, with around 511,000 files successfully processed. One of the most significant contributors to this volume has been the collection of data from Multimedia Communication Services (SCM), which makes up nearly 459,000 of the submissions due to the vast number of broadband providers in Brazil.

Anatel’s Vision for a Transparent Telecommunications Sector

Anatel’s President, Carlos Baigorri, emphasized that the new panel represents a significant step toward improving the agency’s data management capabilities. He noted that the updated regulation, enacted through Resolution No. 774 of February 19, 2025, underscores Anatel’s commitment to more efficient and modern telecommunications oversight.

Through this new system, Anatel seeks to promote a telecommunications sector that benefits all Brazilians by fostering more competition, improving service quality, and driving innovation. By offering open data access, Anatel also encourages independent analysis and research from various sectors, contributing to a more dynamic and competitive market.

Anatel has already made the data available on the new platform, and the public can easily access it through the agency’s Data Panel Portal. To further assist in navigating the data, Anatel has provided a Python notebook with practical guidelines for analysis, making it easier for researchers, students, and other stakeholders to utilize the information.
