Prior Limitations on WI-FI 7 Certification
Before this change, ANATEL allowed WI-FI 7 product testing but restricted the explicit use of “WI-FI 7” or “802.11be” on certification documents. Instead, testing organizations (OCDs) had to use terms like Modulation + BW (e.g., OFDMA 320MHz) to describe the technology, creating challenges for manufacturers aiming to align with global certification standards.
New Certification Standards & Testing Requirements for WI-FI 7
With the IEEE’s recent approval of the 802.11be draft standard, ANATEL’s decision allows manufacturers to clearly specify 802.11be on certification documents. Testing for WIFI 7 in Brazil follows guidelines outlined in ANATEL Act 14448, item 11.7. These requirements mirror those for WIFI 6E, ensuring consistency and compatibility in the testing process. The clear specification of 802.11be on certifications is expected to encourage wider adoption of WIFI 7 devices in Brazil’s growing tech market.
