On November 6, 2024, the Autoridad de Regulación y Fiscalización de Telecomunicaciones y Transportes (ATT) in Bolivia published a new regulatory resolution, replacing the previous regulation, “ATT-DJ-RAR TL LP 443/2023.” The newly issued regulation, “ATT-DJ-RAR-TL LP 539/2024,” introduces important updates to the Type Approval Certificate (TAC) process.
One of the most notable updates in the new regulation is the extension of the validity period for Type Approval Certificates (TACs). The validity period for TACs has been extended from 5 years to 10 years, effectively doubling the previous duration. Meanwhile, the Registration Certificate be valid for 5 years.
It is important to note that the extension of TAC validity does not apply retroactively. Certificates issued under the old 5-year rule will remain valid until their original expiration date. Only new certificates issued after the implementation of Resolution 539/2024 will benefit from the extended 10-year validity period.
The new resolution has come into immediate effect, requiring that ongoing equipment homologation requests be adapted to comply with the updated provisions. Manufacturers and other stakeholders must ensure that their processes align with the new requirements to avoid delays or complications.
