Bahrain is set to lead the region by enabling Next-Generation Wi-Fi 7 products.
The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has introduced an updated Technical Specifications document and supporting regulatory motions, paving the way for the latest advancements in wireless technology.
This update includes new specifications for Wi-Fi 7 and the expansion of spectrum ranges 5470 – 5725 MHz and 5925 – 6425 MHz for Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E. Bahrain’s robust fibre optic network and extensive 5G coverage will enhance connectivity and performance, accommodating the growing number of connected devices in households.
TRA General Director Philip Marnick emphasized, “Bahrain is one of the most connected places in the world and internet users expect to be able to use the full potential of both our extensive fibre and 5G coverage. Opening this new Wi-Fi spectrum will not only enable everyone in Bahrain to access the services they want today, but also allow them to make full use of new technologies and capabilities as they become available. We want to ensure Bahrain is the best place in the world to access the internet and for companies to test their innovations.”
Updated Certified Technical Frequencies
Earlier this year, TRA Bahrain published updated Technical Specifications allowing use of radio spectrum for Wi-Fi 6GHz Technologies.
