Argentina’s Secretariat of Industry and Commerce, under the Ministry of Economy, approved the General Framework for Conformity Evaluation through Resolution No. 237. This framework provides the basis for technical regulations issued by the Secretariat.
To operationalize this framework, the National Directorate of Technical Regulations was authorized to issue supplementary guidelines. These guidelines establish specific technical and procedural standards for conformity assessment and compliance control.
Key Provisions for Manufacturers and Importers
The new guidelines affect how manufacturers and importers certify products under technical regulations. Important highlights include:
Security Seal or Conformity Mark:
- Until the implementation date outlined in Article 4 of Resolution 237/2024, manufacturers may use either the existing security seal or adopt the “Conformity Mark.”
- Once enforceable, products must display the “Conformity Mark” per the requirements in Resolution 237/2024 and this supplementary regulation.
Compliance Platform:
- All certification procedures will be conducted through the Remote Procedures Platform (TAD) or its future digital equivalent.
Penalties for Non-Compliance:
- Violations of these provisions will result in sanctions as defined in Resolution 237/2024.
