Global Market Access and Type Approval Overview
Saudi Arabia
Regulatory Overview
The Communications, Space & Technology Commission (CST) – formerly known as the Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) grants market approval for products using radio technologies in Saudi Arabia. CST certification is a necessity to do business in the Saudi market. Our team at Global Validity works closely with the commission to help manufacturers get their certificates of conformity for the market on time and on budget.
We are familiar with the country’s regulatory requirements, including Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) standards, and can aid you through the process to achieve complete compliance. Saudi Arabia is one of the very few markets that doesn’t need local lab testing or representation, making the homologation process quite straightforward.
We’re also here to support you with certificate renewals every two years, making it easier to maintain compliance without added hassle. If you have questions about meeting Saudi Arabia’s conformity requirements, our team is ready to provide expert guidance on product certification and regulatory expectations.
Saudi Arabia Type Approval FAQs
In Saudi Arabia, the Communications, Space & Technology Commission (CST) oversees the regulation and approval of radio technology products, including wireless and telecommunications equipment. Previously known as the Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC), the authority rebranded to CST in December 2022. However, certifications are still commonly referred to as CITC certifications.
The CITC certification process in Saudi Arabia involves arranging for the product to be examined by the CST approval team after submitting the product for testing and preparing and submitting the required documents. After the final administrative process, you will receive a certificate unless the CST decides that your product does not need one.
On-site laboratory testing or contact with local representatives is not required for approval in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The time it takes to get the certification depends on the product and it usually takes 2-8 weeks. The CITC certificates are valid for two years and need to be renewed every two years.
